A Fundraising Update + Playground Survey

Hello Playground Supporters!

We wanted to check in with all the Briar Hill School families and community members that are invested in our project to see if everyone is happy to stay the course and continue raising money for our current playground design or if other options should be explored to get a playground built sooner.

We would love your input and participation in the following survey to help us move forward with the best option for our school and community! If you could please complete the survey by June 30, 2023 (it should take a maximum of 10 minutes to complete).

We have provided alternative designs that are less expensive so we can potentially build sooner.

All of the design options are on our website for your review. Please involve your kids when looking at the different options. We are doing this all for them after all!

Here’s a few other things to consider when completing the survey!

  • To date, we have raised $230K for our playground!

  • We will need another $198K to build our original design (as voted on by our school community when we first started fundraising).

  • We were awarded a grant from the Parks Foundation worth $25K! If we don’t spend it by June 2024 we will lose this funding.

  • We were unsuccessful in our other grant applications (one worth up to $30K, one worth up to $125K, and one worth up to $185K). We have reapplied and will hear if we are awarded any of those between July and November 2023.

  • Our current supplier (Habitat) has donated a free install worth $57K. If we go with a different supplier we will be doing a volunteer build and we need 30+ volunteers to sign up over 3 days to build the playground.

  • The cost of our playground has increased by over $100K since we first started fundraising (supply increases and inflation). We can expect cost increases each year we don’t build.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! It is not too late to get your name or logo on the donor board. All donations over $25 receive a tax receipt.
